About the Author

Stan was born in Jackson, Mississippi, half a century ago.  He graduated from Magnolia Academy with Honors  and went on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was a Biology major and English minor.  Running out of money in dirt-poor Mississippi, he joined the Navy in 1979 and became a Submarine Machinist Mate, attended Nuclear Power School in Orlando, and eventually went on to become a Navy Instructor at the Naval Submarine Training Center in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, as well as a member of the Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit One.  Stan twice received the Navy Achievement Award, and served during Operation Desert Storm.  He retired from active duty in 1996.

Stan met and married his wife of 26 years in Hawaii.  She is currently a returning student with plans of earning a PhD in Psychology.  He  has a grown, recently engaged son, and a daughter attending her first year at college majoring in Culinary Arts.  She says "it's awesome."

Stan works in the grocery industry as a manager, and has tentative plans for returning to college, himself, one day soon.

Having written fiction since junior high school, Stan's career as an author was interrupted by active duty.  He returned to work seriously during a break in employment in 2001, and received his first payment for the short story "Gourmand" in 2002.  Between 2002 and 2007 he wrote over fifty short stories and two novels, with something less than half of the shorts being published in paying markets.  He is currently in negotiations over publication of his third novel, and is working on its sequel.
